Recently my husband presented me, with great excitement, a spur of the moment gift.  He spotted my gift whilst out during the day and knew I’d love it so just had to buy it. My gift,  the notebook I drafted this blog in.  The cover says “Today I will Choose Happy Vibes”.  My husband was right I love it.

I was fortunate to have a happy childhood and throughout my early corporate career I was known for always being happy. I learnt easily and I was good at my work. I didn’t have too many pressures on me and I sailed through life. I was happy.

As life went on there becomes more people, more pressures, mortgages, life, death and taxes! All of these things have from time to time weighted upon me. Sometimes they get me down but I seem to always find a way back to my happy.  Around me, friends, family, colleagues would be a mix of people in various shades of happy and sad. I’d get remarks of you’re always happy. I could only ever shrug in reply. I didn’t know why I was just happy.

Now I know why. Subconsciously I was choosing to be happy.

We are raised and bred to live by our senses. We see, here, smell, taste and touch things that we have to process quickly.  Is this safe? Am I in danger? For our early ancestors these truly were life and death decisions to make. Today I think a lot of people are fortunate enough these decisions aren’t life threatening but they are important.

The whole world, the universe even, is made of energy. Think back to science lessons at school, we and everything around us are molecules and molecules are made of atoms and then even smaller,  neutrons & protons and beyond my science knowledge there are sure to be even smaller components. We are energy. Everything around us is energy. Our senses pick up on the energy around us.  This energy is what we are reacting to.

Energy is transmitted in waves and has a level of vibration. So every moment of every day you are picking up vibrations of energy at varying levels. What you do with all of this input is up to you. You have genetic conditioning and learnt programming on how you deal with the energy coming at you. Your programming is deep in your subconscious and operates without any conscious help from you.

You can however consciously override your programming. You can choose how you act. You can choose how you react to the energy your senses are delivering.

This is why you can choose to be happy regardless of what the world has for you today. You can choose how you handle it and every time you choose to act or react different to your programming, you make a track for a new programme . The more times you choose to react in a new way, the more times you travel the new path,  with constant spaced repetition, that new path becomes a road, then a highway and you will ultimately form a new programme. Your subconscious action or reaction to the situation will become your new normal.

So today, right now, decide to choose to be happy. Before you know it people will be asking what’s happened to you? Why what have you done? Why are you so happy?
