This famous quote from Archibald MacLeish’s short play The Secret of Freedom perfectly illustrates the idea that man is the highest form of life and that it is because our minds are unique. Unlike animals (as far as we know), man is the only creature that truly love, rationalise, plan, wonder, and think. Sure, your dog may get really excited when you come home from work but does he actually love you? No, not in the sense that humans understand it.
In 2006, the movie The Secret brought the Law of Attraction to the mainstream. This law, which is actually a sub-law of the Law of Vibration, tells us that what we think about and focus on, we will attract. This is because at the sub-atomic level, everything in the Universe is energy in one form or another and this energy vibrates, it has a wave-length. When we put this energy out into the Universe, it tends to go into alignment with similar patterns and that which we are focused on will tend to come right back at us.
You see, our mind is like a highly sophisticated radio receiver and our subconscious mind can pick up vibrations all around us. When we put our energy and concentration onto a question we have, what we receive is an answer. You recognise the answer as many things – a gut feeling, inner voice, instinct or a hunch. Some call it a sixth sense. It is not a sense, it is really intuition, one of the 6 mental faculties, gifts from the universe that we as humans have been blessed with.
Now you might think that you aren’t very intuitive; I’d bet that you were wrong. Have you ever walked into a room that fell dead silent when you walked in? They pretend they weren’t talking about you but despite not being there to hear it but you know it to be true. Or have you ever picked up the phone to find it was a long-lost friend that you yourself were thinking about calling? And what about a mother’s feeling – her intuition – when one of her children is in strife? This phenomena has existed throughout human history, there really is nothing new about it except that nowadays people are open about it.
How does this amazing power work? Both theology and science agree that there is a universal force that connects us. Some people call it Universal Intelligence, the Universal Mind, the Universe or even perhaps God though we may forgive some men and women of science for not quite making the Divine connection. In any event, there is a Universal Force at work, of that we are certain.
There is within you – within everyone – this mighty resistless force with which you can perform undertakings that will dazzle your reason, stagger your imagination. There constantly resides within you a Mind that is all-wise, all-powerful, a Mind that is entirely apart from the mind which you consciously use in your everyday affairs yet which is one with it.

Our subconscious mind is part of the Universal Mind and it is omnipotent. Of this there is no doubt. Anything it is in harmony with will be attracted. When connected to the universal mind, to infinite intelligence, the subconscious can receive anything it desires. By Law every question has an answer and the answer is present at all times. It is when the subconscious and universal intelligence are connected that pure genius can flow and with it, the answer to our question.
Indeed, it is not intellect, but intuition which advances humanity. Intuition tells man his purpose in life.

There is no instruction manual for using our intuition but we know that you can learn to tap into it through quiet meditation. As you meditate, focus on what it is you want. Be specific. Reach out to the Universe and tell it what you want to know and then listen. When we are in a meditative state we can quieten the conscious mind so the process of listening can be uninterrupted.
Intuition isn’t something you can turn on or off. When you are searching for an answer be patient. It maybe that you’re not ready to receive the answer. Your conscious mind may be unprepared or you may not be on the right frequency. Hold what you desire in your mind and put yourself in harmony with what you want to attract.
Intuition is one of mankind’s greatest gifts. It can be used or ignored, the Universe does not care. However, if you really want to tap into what life has to offer, follow your gut, trust your instincts and go for it, don’t let your special insights go to waste.
